Ian Davey
Another alumnus of the rugby players’ breeding ground that is Colston’s Collegiate, Ian has played all his club rugby at Bath. He has represented England Under 18s, and used to sprint for his county.

On breaking into the Academy squad, he quickly made his mark, and in 2005/06 the powerful and quick three-quarter got a sniff of first-team action, making the match 22 for the penultimate Premiership outing of the season against Sale Sharks. He tasted first-team action for real early last season, starting against Bristol in the EDF Energy Cup on 1st October 2006, and that was followed by two more starts and one appearance as a replacement.

Blessed with an electric turn of pace, the wing has a habit of scoring tries, and has dazzled for the United and Development sides this season, scoring eleven tries in sixteen games.

Davey, who is described by Academy Manager Frank Butler as a “gifted and quick footballer”, extended his contract with Bath Rugby for a year in February, and with further development he may well add to his tally of first-team appearances in the coming season.

Ian is a member of the Bath Rugby Academy.
