With Bath Rugby sitting just two points below Gloucester, after a thrilling defeat of the league leaders last Friday night, Head Coach Steve Meehan, Forwards Coach Mark Bakewell and Defence and Skills Coach, Brad Davis have this week committed themselves to a further two years at Bath Rugby.
"As a group, we are far from finished, but we are starting to see some great rugby from the players and I'm really enjoying that," said Steve Meehan yesterday. "I'm lucky to work with the group of players and rugby staff at Bath. As a club we are having wins on and off the field and I believe that it is going to continue to be an enjoyable place to be."

Defence and Skills Coach Brad Davis, who has made the successful transition from Rugby League to Union and helped Bath become one of the meanest defences in the Premiership and Europe, is confident that Bath Rugby is going in the right direction.

"I think, first of all that I feel I am part of a club moving forward in every direction. Since joining, I have seen a big impact not only on the pitch but off it. As a coach, I am looking forward to developing myself within what is a great coaching staff and group of players and it really is an exciting place to be at the moment."

Renowned for their set-piece, Bath Rugby's forward pack have worked well under Mark Bakewell, with one of the most formidable scrummages in the Premiership. Talking yesterday about his decision to stay with the club, he admitted that he had his sights set on Bath, long before he moved to the UK: "I had aspirations before coming to England about working for Bath. My ambitions were therefore never for a short-term contract and the fact that the team is heading in the right direction means that we are now playing some really exciting rugby.

"It is great to work with the forward pack at Bath. The calibre of players and the type of people that they are have meant it is a pleasure to work with them. This year we have developed a balanced approach to our game which has transferred into giving the team the best results and I look forward to helping the players continue to develop this exciting style of play."

Chief Executive, Bob Calleja, is convinced that the triple signing will lead to even greater successes at Bath: "I am extremely happy that we have secured the expert services of our coaching staff for another two years.

"Steve Meehan, Mark Bakewell and Brad Davis have worked very hard and made a promising contribution in a relatively short period. The extended contracts will give them the security and confidence to continue the good start. Their support staff are equally committed to the cause and the continuity will not only aid stability but encourage improvement in all aspects.

"I believe that we now have a settled management team that is capable of delivering success, working with some quality players on the field of play."
