FRONT ROW XMAS PARTY!

A fab time was had on Tuesday by 50 junior supporters and six of our Bath Rugby players at our Christmas Bowling Bonanza!
This year our Front Row Christmas Party took place at the Christie Miller Sports Centre in Melksham.  Our junior supporters joined a number of our players to take part in Bath Rugby's first ever Bowling Bonanza!
 
Much fun was had by the juniors and players alike! All of our juniors were split into two groups and took it in turns to bowl and do activities in the sports hall.
 
Matt Banahan, Tom Cheeseman, Aaron Jarvis, Duncan Bell, Jonny F and Shontayne Hape all took a turn to captain the bowling teams and to take part in the bowling itself and there were a lot of high fives happening on the bowling lanes as the juniors excelled themselves (some of them scoring higher than the players!). The overall winner of the bowling competition was Joe Knight who won a signed shirt by all of the players present. The winners of each lane received a flag signed by their team captain and the winning teams of each group all won a Bath Rugby torch keyring. Charlotte Holmes won four tickets to the Newcastle game as she was deemed to be the best team player in the bowling.
 
Over in the Sports Hall the juniors were put through their paces by Rich Ayling with shuttle runs and agility exercises and then all hell was let loose as we played a great game of dodgeball! I don’t know who was more tired – the children or the players involved!
 
Our special thanks goes to Christie Miller Sports Centre who made the evening such a success, Rich Ayling for all his energetic contributions in the sports hall and of course to the players for keeping up with the huge enthusiasm of all of the children! Another special mention to Cadburys Trebor Bassett for providing some yummy snacks for the children! We had a thoroughly great time and we hope you all did too!

DESIGN OUR CHRISTMAS E-CARD

Sophie Roberts was the winner of our competition to design our Bath Rugby e-card which was emailed to all of our supporters and Bath Rugby contacts.  Sophie won a Bath Rugby Christmas goody bag and her Christmas card became famous!

All FRONT ROW members were invited to take part in our caption competition to win a trip to the Rec for themselves and nine mates (plus two guardians) courtesy of the Bath Rugby Front Row Club!  The entry that made us laugh the most was:

CALLING ALL FRONT ROW MEMBERS!  This season we want YOU to shape the content of our website by sending us regular articles about anything and everything rugby related.  We want to hear all about YOU, the greatest supporters in the world and we want to hear about why you love Bath Rugby, which are your favourite players and we even want you to write mathc reports for us!  And in return you could win a SIGNED BATH RUGBY HOME SHIRT!

To kick-start the new look website we would like to hear about YOU!  We would like to know anything and everything about our FRONT ROW supporters and all entries received will appear on our website for everyone to enjoy throughout the course of the season.

You could:

• devise a stats sheet about yourself in the style of a players biography
• send us details about the rugby team you play for
• write your own match reports from Bath Rugby matches you have watched AND/OR of the games that you have played either at school or in your club leagues
• tell us who your favourite player is and why
• draw us a picture of yourself OR your favourite player
• answer the questions we pose to the players in ‘get closer to the players’ on our website
• write a poem about yourself
• tell us what you would like to do when you grow up and why
• write a blog of how you entertained yourself over the horrible and wet summer holidays we have just had
• in short you can do absolutely ANYTHING! 

We can’t wait to receive your articles / pictures / poems!  All we ask is that you send the entries by post to me along with parental consent that it can be posted on the website.  If you are attaching a photo of yourself then we will require a parental signature on the reverse to say that it can be added to the website.  The address to send them to is: Sarah Tarling, Bath Rugby, 11 Argyle Street, Bath, BA2 4BQ.

All FRONT ROW members were invited to take part in this poetry competition.  Sophie put pen to paper and composed a great poem all about Bath Rugby!  We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

The Bath Rugby Ball

 I’m waiting for the whistle to blow,

And I’m stuck here in a maul,

Pushed and pulled in every way,

But I suppose I’m just the ball!

Grasped tightly in a pair of hands,

And heading for a try,

Swiftly passed from Maddock to Butch,

Down the pitch I fly.

At last! I’m finally touched down,

And I hear the crowd roar!

Shaun Berne is going to convert the score,

So through the posts I’ll soar!
